Iran most economical route for Kazakhstan’s exports: minister
By Trend
Minister of National Economy of Kazakhstan Timur Suleymanov
described Iran as the most economical route for his country’s
exports.
"The geographical position of Iran and Kazakhstan’s lack of access
to the high seas have turned Iran to the most economical route for
Kazakhstan’s exports," Suleymanov said on May 19 during a meeting
with Iran's Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Mohammad
Shariatmadari in Astana.
Iran has a long record in the fields of science and research, he
added, stressing that the two nations could boost their cooperation
in the sectors of science and education, Fars news agency
reported.
The Iranian minister, for his part, stressed the need for enhanced
ties between the two sides in the various fields, particularly
banking and economic industries.
Shariatmadari has travelled to Astana to participate in the Astana
Economic Forum, Eurasia’s leading conference on economic matters,
underway in the Kazakh capital.
The eleventh Astana Economic Forum kicked off in the Kazakh capital
on May 17, welcoming 5,000 participants from 111 countries and more
than 500 speakers, including former United Nations
Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, former French President Francois
Hollande and Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak. Organized in Astana
since 2008, this year’s event focuses on global trends and
challenges.
The event will come to an end on May 19.
