Jolie`s alleged adoption plans rile Armenian lobby
Reports about Hollywood superstar Angelina Jolie`s
plans to adopt a baby from Armenia have sparked a wave of
resentment amidst the Armenian Diaspora in the United States.
The lobby`s anger is due to her apparently considering the South Caucasus republic "a third world country", as she previously adopted three children from Africa, Cambodia and Vietnam.
According to the PanARMENIAN.Net website, representatives of the Armenian community in New York have responded by saying "an Armenian child should be raised and educated in Armenia." They claimed that, having grown on the American soil, that kid will forget his or her native language and culture, "especially in a family where children belong to different nationalities."
Geyer Kosinski, Jolie`s spokesman, is in no rush to comment on the adoption issue. "No information in that regard can be made public at present," Kozinski`s office told PanARMENIAN.Net.
The actress believes that the child from Armenia will be able to easily adapt in a family with kids from Africa, Cambodia and Vietnam, reports say.
Jolie`s husband, Brad Pitt, disagrees with her choice as he wanted to adopt a child from India instead.
