Iran “launches gas exports” to Armenia
Iran has begun exporting natural gas to Armenia,
delivering 2 million cubic meters a day to the South Caucasus
republic, the Russian RIA Novosti news agency reported.
According to the 20-year agreement signed by the two countries in 2004, gas supplies will gradually increase, reaching 4m cu. m. in 2011 and 6.3m cu. m. in later years.
Armenia will use the gas it buys from Iran to primarily generate electric power and deliver produced electricity for Iran as partial payment for the imported fuel.
