Russia is one of the guarantors of energy security throughout Eurasia, said Russian President Vladimir Putin.
He made the remark in his greetings addressed to the participants and guests of the International Forum on Energy Efficiency and Energy Development entitled "Russian Energy Week" (REN).
"The sustainable growth of the modern world economy is closely linked to ensuring energy security and, of course, Russia – one of the guarantors of energy security throughout Eurasia – has a special role to play in this matter.
The participants and guests of the forum will have an opportunity to familiarize themselves with the prospects of the Russian fuel and energy complex, to outline areas of cooperation, including in the field of energy conservation and the introduction of new technologies that meet the strictest environmental standards," the message said.
The head of state stressed that representatives of the authorities, major industry companies, business circles and expert community from Russia and other countries will gather at the sites of the REN.
They, according to Putin, will have to conduct a serious, comprehensive analysis of the current state of the global energy market and offer effective solutions to current problems.
Putin expressed hope that the substantive dialogue of the REN participants will contribute to the development of common approaches to the formation of the international energy agenda as well as the launch of new mutually beneficial initiatives.
The international energy effectiveness forum Russian Energy Week will be held in Moscow’s central exhibition hall Manezh on October 4-7 with the heads of major international energy companies, leading world experts and mass media taking part.
The forum will discuss the topical international energy agenda, formulate the main guidelines for the fuel and energy complex’s development and look for optimal solutions in response to the existing challenges.
Energy-rich Russia has the largest known natural gas reserves of any state on earth, along with the second largest coal reserves, and the eighth largest oil reserves. It is also the main exporter of oil and natural gas to the EU.
