Thirty one bodies and nine body parts have been found at the crash site of a Turkish cargo plane in Kyrgyzstan, the Kyrgyz presidential press service said on January 16.

“Preliminary data indicates that 31 people have died and nine body parts have been found near the Manas International Airport as a result of the Boeing 747 crash,” the press service said, citing information obtained from the Kyrgyz minister of emergency situations.

The Turkish cargo jet crashed near Kyrgyzstan’s Manas International Airport Jan. 16, killing at least 37 people, most of them residents of a village struck by the jet as it tried to land in dense fog, Kyrgyz officials said.

According to the airport administration, the plane was supposed to make a stopover at Manas, near the capital city Bishkek, on its way from Hong Kong to Istanbul. It crashed when trying to land in poor visibility at 7:31 a.m. (GMT +6).

Kyrgyz transport ministry said there were five people on board.

Rescue workers have recovered the bodies of 15 villagers and a plane pilot from the crash site, the Kyrgyz healthcare ministry said earlier.
