Russian President Vladimir Putin on Sunday expressed his condolences to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over the deadly truck-ramming attack in Jerusalem, Sputnik reported.

Earlier in the day, a truck rammed into a group of soldiers getting off a bus near a popular promenade in Jerusalem. As a result of the ramming attack, at least four soldiers were killed and 14 others injured. The truck driver was shot dead. The police classified the incident as a terror attack.

“President Putin conveyed his condolences to the families and friends of the victims of the terror attack and wished a speedy recovery to all injured,” the Kremlin’s press service said.

Meanwhile, Israeli police said Sunday they identified the suspect behind the deadly truck ramming attack in Jerusalem as an Arab resident of the city.

"The terrorist who murdered four soldiers and injured 13 others in truck attack is an Arab resident, Fadi Kunbar age 28 of Jabel Mukaber," Israel Police Foreign Press Spokesman Micky Rosenfeld wrote on his official Twitter.

Signs indicate that the driver, who rammed the truck into a group of soldiers in Jerusalem in Sunday, was an supporter of Daesh terrorist group, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was quoted as saying by the Jerusalem Post newspaper.

"According to all the signs, the terrorist was a backer of Islamic State [Daesh]," he said.
