Gul, Sarkisian may meet again Oct. 14 - reports
A meeting of Turkish and Armenian Presidents Abdullah Gul and Serzh Sarkisian may be held in Turkey on October 14. If it takes place, the two leaders will together attend a football match of their countries` national teams, Turkish media reported.
The Turkish Football Federation has passed a decision saying Turkey and Armenia, which ended up in the same group of the 2010 World Cup qualifying leg, will face-off in the town of Kayseri.
The reports also said that the Kadir Has soccer stadium, built in Kayseri, the hometown of President Gul, will be opened with the participation of his Armenian counterpart.
We recall that the two countries` leaders attended a soccer match together in Yerevan in September 2008 when Abdullah Gul became the first Turkish president to visit Armenia. Further, Gul invited the Armenian leader to his country to attend a return match.
Armenia and Turkey currently maintain no diplomatic ties and the border between the two countries has been closed since 1993 on Ankara`s insistence in response to Armenia`s policy of occupation of Azerbaijani territories and the Armenian "genocide" claims.
