Money transfers up in Kazakhstan
The number of transfers received by residents of Kazakhstan from abroad increased by 1.3 times in May 2016 compared to May 2015, Ranking.kz analytical service said in its report.
The amount of transfers sent abroad decreased by 10 percent in the reporting to period to 28.5 billion tenge (352.25 tenge = $1). The transactions to foreign country exceeded transfers from abroad by 7 billion tenge.
Russian ruble accounted for over 50 percent of money transfers to Kazakhstan, while the US dollar remained the most popular currency for money transfers from Kazakhstan to foreign countries.
Russia was the most popular destination for money transfers from and to Kazakhstan. Money transfers from and to Russia exceeded 40 percent of all transfers in Kazakhstan.
Central Asian countries also accounted for a sizeable share of money transfers: Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan jointly received 24.8 percent of money transfers sent from Kazakhstan and about 14 percent of money transfers to Kazakhstan from abroad.
