Reports on BTC suspension dismissed
BP Azerbaijan, the operator of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) main
export pipeline pumping Azeri oil to world markets, has dismissed
media reports saying the conduit had been suspended for repair
work.
The company`s spokesperson, Tamam Bayatly, said planned preventive measures were carried out on the BTC on Tuesday, which regularly take place every year. The process has had no impact on the exports of oil. "The pipeline is operating as usual," Bayatly said.
Russian ITAR-TASS news agency reported quoting a BP representative in London that the BTC had been shut for repair and that there was no word, at this point, on how long the operations would take.*
