SOCAR drills new well in Caspian Sea

Azerbaijani state energy company SOCAR started drilling a new well in the shallow part of the Guneshli field in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea.

The company reported that the well is being drilled from the "Gunashli-10" platform to a projected depth of 3,100 meters. According to the geologists' calculations, the well will produce 100 tons of oil per day.

The Guneshli field's deep-water section is in the Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli oil and gas fields and is being developed by SOCAR and foreign companies.

SOCAR includes Azneft (onshore and offshore oil and gas production), Azerkimya (chemical industry) and Azerigas (gas distribution) production associations, as well as a number of processing enterprises, service enterprises and institutions engaged in geophysical and drilling operations.
