Iran succeeds in production of methanol-based gasoline - official

Managing Director of National Iranian Oil Products Distribution
Company (NIODC) said Iran is pioneer in using new generation of
gasoline, adding that the country's scientists are working on
production of new type gasoline which is based on methanol, IRNA
news agency reported.
'Methanol-based gasoline utilizing domestic materials and expertise
will be produced in the country and it is presently at experimental
level,' Jalil Salari said on Sunday in Tehran.
'Our country is a pioneer in production of E5 or Ethanol-based
gasoline and NIODC had previously a joint venture with Oil Industry
Research Center which was approved by the relevant bodies,' the
official added.
He noted that the feasibility studies in this regard have been
carried out in cooperation with Iranian Ethanol Society.
'Due to the fact that this gasoline is based on methanol, it
attracts moisture and water. Hence, this gasoline should be used
under conditions that are completely free of water and moisture and
without any leak point,' Salari added.
