Kazakh and Romanian leaders to discuss oil, gas coop
Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev is expected to visit Bucharest in early 2013, Romanian Ambassador to Kazakhstan Nikolai Ureki told Trend news agency on Friday.
"A date of the visit is being specified through diplomatic channels which will be announced later," he said.
According to the information, Nazarbaev and his Romanian counterpart Traian Basescu will discuss new opportunities for further expanding cooperation between the two countries and particularly issues of cooperation in the oil and gas sector.
In 2007, KazMunaiGas acquired the assets of the Romanian oil company Rompetrol which gave a strong impetus to the cooperation development.
"Romania is able to supply oil and gas equipment to Kazakhstan and share experience on the development of agriculture," the ambassador said.
According to the information, after Romania's joining of the EU, the situation in the country improved. Economic growth has been observed with the GDP increasing by 4.5-5.3 per cent annually.
"It was the highest index in Eastern Europe," he said. "We can complement each other."
He said that the leaders of the two countries have no contradictions in any political or economic issues.
