SOCAR GAZ distribution company, recently established by Azerbaijani State Oil Company SOCAR, is interested in the privatisation of Istanbul's gas distribution network İGDAŞ, Yeni Safak newspaper quoted SOCAR Turkey Energy head Kenan Yavuz as saying on Tuesday.
He said SOCAR expects İGDAŞ will be put up for privatisation and after the announcement of the tender conditions SOCAR GAZ will take a final decision on the offer.
The tender has been postponed several times. 90 per cent of the
shares will be put up for privatisation with the tender open to
both foreign and local companies.
SOCAR Turkey Energy jointly with the Turkish gas company Çığ Enerji
have established SOCAR Gaz Ticareti AŞ for gas distribution on the
domestic market of Turkey.
The company will distribute 700-800 million cubic meters of gas
imported into Turkey from Azerbaijan.
