Socar ups oil production in January
Azerbaijan’s state oil company Socar produced about 583,000 tons of oil against the planned 579,000 tons from the fields it operates in January, according to Socar's Azneft production association website.
Approximately 581,400 tons of oil was sent for export and refining last month.
Last year, Socar extracted over 7.146 million tons of oil from its fields, 7.115 million tons of which were sent for export and refining at the Heydar Aliyev Oil Refinery and Azerneftyag.
Also in January Socar produced about 572.1 million cubic meters of gas, 0.6 percent over the projection. Over 512.5 million cubic meters were sent for refining and to Azerigas production unit, which is engaged in gas transportation and sale in Azerbaijan.
Besides Azneft, which comprises oil and gas producing companies, Socar includes chemicals producer Azerkimya and gas supplier Azerigas.

Socar is also a co-owner of Petkim, Turkey’s largest petrochemicals complex. The company carries out oil trade in regions across the world through Socar Trading, its subsidiary.
