Kyrgyzgaz’s privatization by Gazprom discussed in Moscow

Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev discussed the possibility of Kyrgyzgaz's privatization by Gazprom with the company's head Aleksey Miller in Moscow on Monday, RIA Novosti reports.

At the meeting the ad hoc groups from Kyrgyzstan and Russia were instructed to provide the calculations on the privatization by mid-February, 2012.

The Kyrgyz parliamentary committee on foreign affairs approved the draft agreement between Russia and Kyrgyzstan on purchase of part of Kyrgyzgaz's shares by Gazprom in 2009. The Russian company plans to buy 75 percent of shares of Kyrgyzstan's national gas supplier.

Kyrgyzstan has a state share of 82.33 percent in Kyrgyzgaz.

Atambayev and Miller also discussed future tax-free supplies of Russian fuel to Kyrgyzstan. Gazprom is a supplier of 65 percent of the total volume of fuel used in Kyrgyzstan.

The Kyrgyz president is in Moscow to attend the CSTO summit on Tuesday.
