Russia`s Rosneft seeks to export oil via BTC

Russia`s largest oil producer, Rosneft, is seeking
to export oil through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) export
pipeline, which transports Azerbaijan`s crude to world markets
through Georgia and Turkey.
Rosneft`s president, Sergei Bogdanchikov, has told the press that the company could benefit from transporting crude via the conduit.
``Turkey is the second-largest consumer of Russian fuel, next to Germany. If the project meets the economic interests of both sides, naturally, we will be able to export our oil through the BTC,`` Bogdanchikov said.
According to the Rosneft president, the sides are negotiating details of the issue.
Azerbaijan has treated the proposal normally. Rovnag Abdullayev, president of the state oil company SOCAR, said interest in the route has been on the increase.
``Everything is possible. If an appeal is received, it may be considered, and even its realization in the future is possible,`` Abdullayev said.
The BTC pumps oil extracted from Azerbaijan`s major Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli fields in the Caspian Sea, as well as condensate produced at the offshore Shahdaniz field.
