Gazprom holds talks on gas imports
Representatives of the Russian natural gas monopoly
Gazprom and its subsidiary company, Gazprom Export, visited
Azerbaijan last week to discuss technical issues related to the
importing of fuel from the South Caucasus republic, according to
the Azerbaijani state energy firm, SOCAR. The sides mapped out
steps to be taken to enforce the agreement reached on Azerbaijan`s
gas exports to Russia.
According to the agreement signed earlier by Gazprom and SOCAR, Azerbaijani gas is to be supplied to the northern neighbor beginning in January 2010.
During the talks, SOCAR was told that an overhaul of the Novo-filya gas measurement hub in Russia had been completed. Azerbaijani representatives are scheduled to visit their neighboring country in September to become more familiar with the hub.
While in Baku, Gazprom executives also toured the Shirvanovka gas measurement station with SOCAR specialists.
