SOCAR to expand network of filling stations in Romania

Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR is willing to inaugurate 4 more filling stations in Romania till the end of the year, said Hamza Karimov, CEO of SOCAR Petroleum SA.

Currently, 36 SOCAR filling stations operate in 17 regions of Romania. SOCAR plans to increase the number of its gas stations up to 40 till the end of 2017.

SOCAR Petroleum SA has been involved in Romania since 2011, by creating and strengthening a network of gas stations nationwide.

SOCAR, which is the only producer of oil products in Azerbaijan, also owns filling stations in Georgia, Ukraine, Switzerland and Azerbaijan. The total number of SOCAR filling stations amounts to 300.

SOCAR, which is keen on expanding operations in the retail oil products market abroad, is involved in exploring oil and gas fields, producing, processing, and transporting oil, gas, and gas condensate, marketing petroleum and petrochemical products in the domestic and international markets, and supplying natural gas to industry and the public in Azerbaijan.

SOCAR is 100 percent owned by the government of Azerbaijan. SOCAR participates in joint ventures (including ventures in Georgia and Turkey), consortia, and operating companies established with SOCAR’s participation. The company has represantatives in Iran, Romania, Ukraine and Germany.
