Azerbaijani gymnast shines at 2016 World Cup in Spain

National gymnasts continue to shine at international arena.

The Azerbaijani athletes showed very decent results at the 2016 World Cup and International Tournament Guadalajara among juniors in Rhythmic Gymnastics held in Spain on June 3-5.

In the World Cup welcoming athletes from 25 countries, Marina Durunda having performed with a ribbon ranked the fifth.

Marina, an 18-year-old Azerbaijani rhythmic gymnast of Ukrainian origin, is one of the promising athletes of the national team. In 2015, she scored the highest number of medals, finishing the year with 22 hauls.

The team consisting of Siyana Vasileva, Aleksandra Platonova, Diana Doman, Ayshan Bayramova and Elif Zeynep Celep represented Azerbaijan in group competitions.

The group reached both finals performing in ribbons, and pairs of clubs and hoops, claiming the fifth place. In the all-around, the girls took the sixth place.

Ilaha Mammadova, Veronica Gudis and Zohra Agamirova participated in the international tournament among juniors, organized in parallel with the World Cup.

The event brought together gymnasts from 18 countries. Fourteen-year-old Veronika performed in the final with a rope and shared the third place with a gymnast from Spain.
