Law enforcers thwart major drug smuggling attempt
Law enforcers have thwarted an attempt to smuggle
drugs to Azerbaijan from neighboring Iran, arresting a group of
suspects.
About 238 kg of narcotics were impounded as a result of the operations carried out by the National Security Ministry officers.
According to the ministry, the smugglers had conspired with a group of ethnic Azerbaijani Iranian citizens to bring large quantities of drugs to the country for sale, while bypassing customs oversight in the Azerbaijan sector of the Caspian Sea.
