Romanian embassy in Baku marks Earth Hour
The Romanian embassy to Azerbaijan joins the “Earth Hour” campaign, aimed at increasing awareness of climate change and the need to protect the environment.
The Romanian Diplomatic Mission in Baku will turn off the lights in the embassy building on Saturday, 19 March 2016, between 20.30 and 21.30 hours, in a symbolic effort to mitigate the effects of global warming and climate change.
The embassy of Romania considers very important to sensitize the public opinion about the importance of environmental protection.
Lights in the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs buildings in Bucharest will be turned off, also.
World Wide Fund for Nature is the organization which initiated “Earth Hour” campaign in 2007 in Australia.
Romania and Azerbaijan have a very good cooperation in the field of environment protection. On 28 September 2009 in Bucharest was signed Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development of Romania and the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan Republic on environment protection.
