The situation on the contact line between Azerbaijan and Armenia has remained tense as the Armenian Armed Forces shattered ceasefire a total of 110 times throughout the day, Azerbaijan`s Defense Ministry reported on March 15.

The ceasefire was violated in Gizil Hajili, Gushchu Ayrim villages in Gazakh region, Alibayli, Aghdam, Kokhanabi villages in Tovuz region, nameless hills in Gadabay region, Gulustan village in Goranboy region, Chilaburt, Chayli, Yarimja villages in Tartar region, Merzili, Novruzlu, Javahirli, Sarijali, Kangarli, Garagashli, Shikhlar, Bash Gervend, Nemirli villages in Aghdan region, Kuropatkino village in Khojavand region, Garakhanbayli, Horadiz, Gorgan, Ashagi Seyidahmadli, Ashagi Abdurrahmanli villages in Fuzuli region, Mehdili village in Jabrayil region, as well as nameless hills in Goygol, Goranboy, Khojavand, Fuzuli and Jabrayil regions.

Azerbaijani armed forces carried out 110 strikes on enemy positions in view of the operational situation.

For over two decades, Azerbaijan and Armenia have been locked in conflict which emerged over Armenia's territorial claims against its South Caucasus neighbor. Since a war in the early 1990s, Armenian armed forces have occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan's territory, including Nagorno-Karabakh and seven surrounding regions.

Although diplomats of Russia, the United States and France – the co-chair countries of the mediating Minsk Group – have been brokering for the peace in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, no real breakthrough have been achieved for more than 20 years.
