Cases of illegal admission of students revealed
The possible illegal admission of students to Azerbaijani schools of higher education has been revealed after various government agencies sent enquires to the State Commission on Student Admission (SCSA).
The body`s chairperson, Maleyka Abbaszada, told a news conference Thursday that although the list of schools where the violations occurred includes mostly private universities, there are some state-run educational institutions among them as well.
A record number of irregularities were reported at the Azerbaijan International University, where 118 students succeeded in graduating without taking admission tests. Twenty one violations were reported at the Academy of Physical Training and Sports, while 19 were discovered at the Cooperation University, six at the State University of Economics, two at the Azerbaijan Technical University and one at the Baku State University.
"Thus, there are numerous persons among those who will be showing their diplomas during job interviews who were never named as students by the SCSA," Abbaszada said.
