Body found off Turkmen coast - possibly of missing Azerbaijani oil worker
It is supposed that the body found Jan. 29 off the coast of Turkmenistan in the Caspian Sea may belong to one of the oil workers, who went missing in the accident on the platform No.10 of Azerbaijan’s Guneshli oil field, the press service of the country’s ministry of emergency situations reported Jan. 30.
The fire broke out on the offshore platform Dec. 4, as a strong storm damaged an underwater high-pressure gas pipeline.
As many as 33 people were rescued in an ensuing large-scale operation. The bodies of 11 killed were retrieved, while 19 oil workers are still listed as missing.
Preparatory work started to send amphibious aircraft of the ministry to Turkmenistan together with a team of investigators in order to identify the body and deliver it to Azerbaijan, according to the ministry.
