President enacts facile business decree
Under the "One window" system effective January 1, 2008, all local
and foreign businessmen willing to do business in the country will
be able to be registered within just five to seven days by applying
to only one government agency - the Ministry of Taxes. The ministry
is confident that a citizen filing for permission to start a
business will not have to wait for months and receive authorization
within a week at the latest.
The new regulations represent the speediest registration procedure not only in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) but also in Europe. The measure eliminates all problems for entrepreneurs starting operation in the domestic market and increases foreign investors' interest in Azerbaijan.
Application forms will be available at the Ministry of Taxes website on the day the presidential decree goes into force, and businessmen will be able to fill out and send them without visiting the ministry.
