No Azerbaijanis among blast victims in Istanbul - VIDEO
By Amina Nazarli
There are no Azerbaijani citizens among the victims of the
terrorist attack occurred in Istanbul on January 12, the Consulate
General of Azerbaijan in the city reported.
The Azerbaijani embassy in Ankara and the Consulate General in
Istanbul are in contact with the Turkish law enforcement agencies
and continue to investigate the presence of Azerbaijani citizens
among those killed in the blast.
Turkish authorities suspect a terror attack on Tuesday was the cause of an explosion in the heart of Istanbul's historic Sultanahmet, close to the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia, a major tourist area of Turkey's most populous city.
At least ten people were killed and 15 wounded in the blast.
German media reports say the country's foreign ministry is investigating reports that German citizens have been hurt in the blast, according to BBC.
Some local media reports said the explosion may have been caused by a suicide bomber but this was not independently confirmed.
The Istanbul governor's office said the authorities were investigating the type of explosive used and who might have been responsible for the attack.
