By Amina Nazarli
Azerbaijan’s Cabinet of Ministers has approved the schedule of non-working days and holidays in 2016.
Azerbaijanis will celebrate Novruz -- the holiday of spring-- from March 20 to 24.
Since March 20 falls on Sunday next year, non-working and working days will be replaced, according to the Labor Code. Thus, March 25 will also be non-working day. Also, as March 26 and 27 fall on Saturday and Sunday, the period between March 20 and 27 will be considered non-working days.
The two most important Islamic holidays - Gurban Bayram and Ramazan, which also contain national public holidays, are also celebrated in Azerbaijan.
The country will mark the holy Ramadan, celebrated by world Muslims, on July 6- 7, while Gurban holiday (Eid al-Adha) will be marked on September 12 and 13. These days will be considered as non-working days in Azerbaijan, according to the legislation.
