Armenian army kills Azerbaijani soldier after OSCE monitoring

Right after the OSCE monitoring on the contact line of Armenian-Azerbaijani troops that revealed no incident, the Armenian Armed Forces have aggravated situation with new provocation.

Azerbaijani Armed Forces’ soldier Rashad Jafarzade was killed on December16 as a result of a mortar shelling of Azerbaijani positions by the Armenian Armed Forces, the Azerbaijani defense ministry reported.

Azerbaijani armed forces fully control the operational situation on the front line, preventing all the provocations of the enemy, according to the ministry.

In the meantime, the Armenian side continues to spread false information about the real situation on the contact line. The Azerbaijani side announced that the information spread by the Armenian media that two Azerbaijani snipers were allegedly killed on the front line contradicts the reality.

The OSCE mission has conducted a monitoring on the contact line of troops near Bala Jafarli village of Azerbaijan`s Gazakh region in the early morning of the same day. The monitoring ended without an incident.

The tensions have recently increased on the contact line of Azerbaijani and Armenian troops and more cases of ceasefire violations have been recorded.

Armenia occupied over 20 percent of Azerbaijan's internationally recognized territory, including Nagorno-Karabakh and seven adjacent regions, after laying territorial claims against its South Caucasus neighbor that caused a brutal war in the early 1990s. Long-standing efforts by U.S, Russian and French mediators have been largely fruitless so far.

As a result of the military aggression of Armenia, over 20,000 Azerbaijanis were killed, more than 4,000 are reported missing and almost 100,000 were injured, and 50,000 were disabled.

The UN Security Council has passed four resolutions on Armenian withdrawal from the Azerbaijani territory, but they have not been enforced to this day.
