Ruling party members should demonstrate principled position in election, MP
By Amina Nazarli
Members of the ruling party – “Yeni Azerbaijan” (YAP) – should
use all opportunities to have a strong position in the upcoming
parliamentary elections.
This statement was made by Deputy Prime Minister and Deputy
Chairman and Executive Secretary of the ruling party Ali Ahmadov at
a meeting in the party’s central election headquarters in
Ganja.
Members of the ruling party, Ahmadov said, should seriously monitor the implementation of orders during the agitation campaign, as well as to ensure free, transparent, and democratic elections.
He noted that YAP is preparing for the upcoming elections as seriously as for previous ones.
The deputy prime minister expressed confidence that YAP will win the upcoming parliamentary elections as well.
He said that Azerbaijan – strengthening its political and economic position in the international arena compounded by the adoption of decisions and resolutions by the world’s influential organizations supporting Azerbaijan's position –has clearly chosen right path, which is leading the country into a successful future.
“The result of the country’s successful socio-economic policy is that the international community approves Azerbaijan’s development model. Azerbaijan's economy has quadrupled for the last 10 years. Of course, a strong policy is the main indicator of this success. With each passing day, the population’s standards of living increase. But most importantly, socio-political stability in Azerbaijan is ongoing,” he said.
Meanwhile, YAP has announced the list of candidates to participate in the elections to be held this autumn, Siyavush Novruzov told AzerTac state news agency.
“We can say that the party activists who will take part in the election campaign have already determined,” he said. “YAP has determined 1,250 members for candidacy.”
Novruzov underlined that, in accordance with the election code, it is necessary to get at least 450 signatures from voters to register candidates for parliamentary elections. “That’s why we presented ten citizens to collect signatures from each of the 125 polling stations,” he said.
Parliamentary elections are planned for November 2015.
In order to conduct transparent elections, more than 1,000 cameras are expected to be installed in polling stations in Azerbaijani regions and Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. Some 296 cameras will be installed in Baku polling stations.
Earlier Ambassador and the Head of the EU delegation to Azerbaijan Malena Mard noted that this year’s parliamentary election has increased interest in the country and international observers will closely monitor the election.
