The situation related to the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict has been discussed in Netherlands.

Azerbaijani Embassy in the Netherlands and Hague International Law Academy have held a round table about decision of the European Court of Human Rights on "Chiragov and others v. Armenia".

The Grand Chamber of the ECHR announced its judgment (Merits) on the case of Chiragov and others v. Armenia on June 16.

The ECHR reaffirmed Armenia’s responsibility in the occupation of Azerbaijani territories. The court ruled in favor of the applicants, recognizing Armenia’s continuing violations of their rights under the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms.

The event brought together about 20 lawyers from Azerbaijan, the U.S, China, Brazil, Columbia, Italy, Poland, Romania, and Bosnia and Herzegovina, AzerTac state news agency reported.

The participants were informed about the main foreign priorities of Azerbaijan, the country`s achievements gained in various fields, as well as the activity of Azerbaijani embassies accredited abroad in popularization of realities of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

They also discussed legal aspects of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, as well as the final decision of ECHR on "Chiragov and others v. Armenia".

The participants expressed regret that international unity, did not give legal necessary assessment to Armenia’s aggression against Azerbaijan that continues more than 20 years.

Armenia occupied over 20 percent of Azerbaijan's internationally recognized territory, including Nagorno-Karabakh and seven adjacent regions, after laying territorial claims against its South Caucasus neighbor that caused a brutal war in the early 1990s.

Long-standing efforts by U.S, Russian and French mediators have been largely fruitless so far.

As a result of the military aggression of Armenia, over 20,000 Azerbaijanis were killed, 4,866 are reported missing and almost 100,000 were injured, and 50,000 were disabled.

The UN Security Council has passed four resolutions on Armenian withdrawal from the Azerbaijani territory, but they have not been enforced to this day.
