31 October 2007 14:58 (UTC+04:00)
Azerbaijan will be ahead among countries in the Middle East and Central Asia regions in 2007 for the share of foreign debt in the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), the International Monetary Fund (IMF) estimates.
The South Caucasus republic will be next only to Turkmenistan, Algeria and Libya, with the 10.3% figure, compared to the 27.6% average among regional states and 23.3% among oil exporting countries.
IMF also predicted a $9.8 billion positive balance in Azerbaijan's foreign trade this year. The country's exports and services are forecast at $18.4bn, or $4.4bn over 2006. Imports will make up $8.6bn accordingly, the Fund said.
