Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry has summoned German ambassador to the country due to a Bundestag resolution against Azerbaijan.

Khalaf Khalafov, Azerbaijan’s deputy foreign minister said the adoption of such a resolution is a black PR campaign against Azerbaijan.

He noted that slanderous accusations, that were reflected in the resolution constituted a targeted campaign among political circles in Germany and Europe and that the case is regrettable since Azerbaijan attaches special importance to relations with Europe.

“The continuation of this policy deals a heavy blow to the Azerbaijani-German relations developing at a high level. Responsibility for the consequences rests on the political circles, initiated the adoption of this resolution and the German side,” Khalafov said.

Noting Azerbaijan's contribution to the development of relations with Europe, Khalafov stressed the importance of reciprocal efforts from Europe.

He further emphasized the important role that Azerbaijan plays in ensuring energy security of Europe.

Khalafov highlighted the importance of First European Games held in Azerbaijan in strengthening the fraternal and tolerant environment between the peoples of Europe.

He also noted that the biased behavior of some European countries, particularly Germany, serves to complicate bilateral relations.

Earlier, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said in its statement that the adoption of this resolution will lead to tension in Azerbaijani-German relations.
