Baku to bask in sunshine during European Games

The weather will also be in festive mood in Baku during the opening ceremony of the inaugural European Games, which will solemnly kick off on June 12.
The forecasts predict the temperature to reach 33C in the country’s capital and Absheron Peninsula this day.
During a day the temperate will be 28-33 degrees C, while at night it will drop standing in between 19 and 23 degrees C.
June generally will please Baku with average temperatures fluctuating in between 23 and 25 degrees C, according to forecasts. So, during 17 days some 6,000 athletes and tourists will enjoy warm sunny weather in the country.
The Games is full of events including beach soccer, beach volleyball, cycling mountain bike, and cycling road that are meant to be played outside, preferably under sunny skies.
Azerbaijan’s climate has nine of eleven climatic zones. Geographic location, relief and the Caspian Sea influence the country’s climate.
Summer in Baku can be quite hot with dry sunny days. Average daily high temperature is about 25 degrees C. North wind Khazri cools the weather in summer in Baku.
Baku is also called a City of Winds, because of it is windy throughout most of the year. If in the early 20th century Baku streets was often blew with strong wind with dust, today the city became warm and comfortable city, thanks skyscrapers and parks.
This year’s significant sporting event -- the European Games will be held in the Land of Fire on June 12-28.
A total of 20 sports will be played during the Games: 16 are Olympic and four are non-Olympic. Additionally 12 of the sports will offer qualification opportunities for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
