Armenian troops keep high tension on contact line

The situation on the contact line between Azerbaijan and Armenia has remained tense as the Armenian Armed Forces shattered ceasefire a total of 66 times throughout the day, Azerbaijan`s Defence Ministry reported on May 7.

The ceasefire was violated in Alibeyli, Aghdam villages in Tovuz region, Kemerli village in Gazakh region, nameless hills in Gadabay region, Talish, Gulustan villages in Goranboy region, Chileburt, Goyarkh villages in Tartar region, Shuraabad, Shikhlar, Yusifjanli, Marzili villages in Aghdam region, Kuropatkino village in Khojavand region, Horadiz, Gorgan, Garakhanbeyli, Ashagi Seyidehmedli, Ashagi Abdurrahmanli villages in Fuzuli region, Mehdili village of Jabrayil region, as well as nameless hills in Goranboy, Khojavand and Fuzuli regions.

The Armenians were silenced with a retaliatory fire.

Azerbaijan's internationally recognized Nagorno-Karabakh territory became a conflict zone following Armenia's aggression in the early 1990s. As a result of Armenia's armed invasion, 20 percent of Azerbaijan's territory fell under Armenia's occupation. Baku has been trying to restore righteous control over its breakaway region of Nagorno-Karabakh, where ethnic Armenian separatists committed bloody atrocities - about 20,000 Azerbaijanis were killed in the conflict and over one million of civilians were displaced coercively.
