Azerbaijan will export weaponries, ammunitions and other products of defense significance to several Arab countries in the near future.
Defense Industry Minister, Yaver Jamalov said Azerbaijan received agreeable orders from a number of Arab countries at the international defense industry exhibition IDEX-215 held in Abu-Dhabi in February 22-28, AzeriDefense magazine wrote.
"Today Azerbaijan is viewed as a promising market in the world defense industry. Azerbaijan itself is interested in this market," Jamalov added.
He noted that Arab counties are mostly keen on obtaining arms, grenade launchers, and ammunition from Azerbaijan.
"The relevant export agreements with those countries will be signed in the near future," the minister said.
The defense industry ministry presented its stand at the exhibition, featuring a wide range of domestically made weapons at the IDEX-2015 exhibition in United Arab Emirates capital city Abu-Dhabi.
The stand put on display the products made in Azerbaijan, including sniper rifles Istiglal-T, Mubariz, Yalguzag and Yirtici, as well as offensive NR-7.62 machine gun, and ammunition for hand grenades of RPG type. The products drew participants' attention.
Azerbaijan also displayed for the first time its newest EM-14 machine gun, which supports firing with bullets of 5.65x45 caliber in keeping with NATO standards.
In 2015, Azerbaijan plans to launch into the mass production of "smart" air bombs, which were put on display at the international ADEX 2014 defense industry exhibition in Baku last September.
Azerbaijan succeeded to demonstrate 132 products of its defense industry in the DSA-2014 exhibition in Kuala Lumpur in 2014.
The Defense Industry Ministry of Azerbaijan increased its production volume by 26.3 percent in 2014, and achieved a growth in the production in 2014 compared to the previous year.
