Aliyev reaffirms Baku`s intransigent stance on Garabagh
The Armenia-Azerbaijan Upper (Nagorno) Garabagh conflict may be settled only on the basis of restoring Azerbaijan`s territorial integrity, President Ilham Aliyev told a cabinet meeting on Monday.
Aliyev emphasized that, despite making limited progress in the peace process, no results have yet been achieved.
"Azerbaijan`s increasing potential further strengthens our position in peace talks. No one has doubts about the issue of Azerbaijan`s territorial integrity, and we are still in need of holding negotiations," he said.
The president added that Baku was ready to analyze some proposals that raise hopes for an agreement.
Azerbaijan and Armenia fought a lengthy war that ended with the signing of a cease-fire in 1994, but Armenia continues to occupy Upper Garabagh and seven other Azerbaijani districts in defiance of international law.
