Pakistan says ties with Azerbaijan develop on all fronts

Sabir Ali Baloch, Acting Chairman of the Pakistani Senate has praised his country`s relationship with Azerbaijan as he met Dashgin Shikarov, Ambassador to Islamabad, AzerTag state news agency reported.
“Friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Pakistan are
developing in all spheres,” he said. “The passage of two
resolutions on the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict
by the Pakistani Senate is a vivid example of the strengthening
bilateral ties.”
Baloch expressed his gratitude to Mehriban Aliyeva, President of
the Heydar Aliyev Foundation for the projects carried out in
education, health and humanitarian spheres in all Pakistani
provinces. “The people of Pakistan praise this noble mission,” he
added.
Shikarov, for his part, hailed relations between the two countries
as friendly.
He praised Pakistan’s supporting Azerbaijan “on all issues,
including the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict”.
The ambassador highlighted reforms carried out in Azerbaijan, and
forthcoming high-profile international events to be hosted by the
country.
The meeting was attended by Pakistani senators, members of the
National Assembly, representatives of embassies of several
countries in Islamabad, and political figures.
Pakistan and Azerbaijan enjoy good relations in various spheres. Pakistan supported Azerbaijan during and after the Nagorno-Karabakh War and it is the only country that does not recognize Armenia.
Pakistan was among of the first countries that recognized the independence of Azerbaijan in December, 1991. The diplomatic relations between the two countries were established on June 9, 1992. The Pakistan Embassy to Azerbaijan was opened on March 12, 1993. Azerbaijani Embassy to Pakistan was opened on August 24, 1997.
