Armenia taking advantage of repatriated family’s lies
By Mushvig Mehdiyev
Armenia once more has turned a repatriated deserter family into a propaganda tool against Azerbaijan ignoring all moral, ethical and legal standards and human rights principle, according to Hikmat Hajiyev, Acting Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry.
“Escaping from tyranny, brutality and extreme poverty in Armenia, Gevorgians family fled to Azerbaijan four years ago with the aim of being delivered to a third country. Other countries refused to receive the family given the criminal past of Yeghishe Gevorgian, head of the family. The family was provided with a residence, food and other necessary conditions for living during their stay in Azerbaijan. Representatives of the International Red Crescent Committee have regularly visited the family and always expressed their satisfaction with the conditions, appreciating humane treatment by Azerbaijan," Hajiyev said.
Hajiyev noted that the medical examination in Armenia reaffirmed that the members of the Gevorgian family are completely healthy. But, Yeghishe Gevorgian and members of his family were forced to make false statements as a result of threats, physical and psychological pressures by the Armenian special forces, humiliating their human dignity. Most regretful thing is that Armenia is not shy to use the infant members of the family in its dirty propaganda, according to Hajiyev.
"The Armenian residents repatriated earlier to the country underwent the same tortures and were kept in the jails of the special forces. Unfortunately, the Gevorgians family encountered the same tragedy," he said.
Hajiyev called on the international community and human rights defenders not to remain indifferent to similar inhuman actions by Armenia, as well as the fates of more than four Azerbaijanis who are missing as the result of Armenian aggression against Azerbaijan. He said right now two Azerbaijani citizens named Dilgam Askerov and Shahbaz Guliyev are being subjected to torture and put on trial.”
Azerbaijan repatriated the Armenian family, which crossed into its territory on January 10, 2010, to Armenia in the bordering Bala Jafarli village of Qazakh region on December 12, according to the State Committee on Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing People.
