Azerbaijan, Montenegro enjoy good opportunity to expand ties

Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Montenegro Eldar Hasanov discussed current state of relations, development prospects and expansion of cooperation in variety of fields as he met the Mayor of Podgorica Slavoljub Stijepovic.
The sides expressed satisfaction with the highly developed bilateral relations between the two countries.
They hailed successful cooperation in the fields of economy, culture, tourism, noting the existence of good opportunity for further expansion of relations, AzerTag state news agency reported.
Expressing his gratitude to Stijepovic for his contribution to cooperation between Azerbaijan and Montenegro in the range of fields especially in educational sphere, Hasanov voiced confidence in further cooperation.
The mayor, in turn, praised Azerbaijan’s contribution to restoration of “King’s Park” in Podgorica and gave high assessment to this contribution and putting Azerbaijani great poet and playwright Huseyn Javid’s bust in this park as a symbol of friendship between the two peoples.
Stijepovic said this contribution paved the way for further cooperation.
Expressing the significance of Azerbaijani-Montenegro strategic partnership during the global financial crisis, Stijepovic noted that bilateral relations would be deepened by implementation of large- scale joint projects.
Cooperation between Azerbaijan and Montenegro started to develop faster recently.
Earlier in April 2014, Baku hosted a business meeting of Azerbaijan and Montenegro, which brought together businessmen from industry, agriculture, food industry, tourism and construction sectors to discuss the prospects of bilateral cooperation between the countries.
Azerbaijan's state energy company SOCAR is going to build a modern resort and hotel complex in place of an abandoned navy base in the Bay of Kotor. For this purpose, Azerbaijan started the $500 million investment project in Montenegro in 2013, which is scheduled to be finished by 2016.
