Azerbaijan, Afghanistan mull issues of cooperation

An Azerbaijani delegation led by Chief of the State Border Service, Lieutenant General Elchin Guliyev has visited Afghanistan.

The visit took place at the invitation of Afghan Interior Minister Mohammad Omar Daudzai and Commander of the Afghan Border Police (ABP), Lieutenant-General Mohammad Shafiq Fazli, AzerTag state news agency reported.

Afghan President Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai has received Guliyev and mulled issues of cooperation between the two sides.

Guliyev also had an expanded meeting with Shafiq Fazli and discussed border security system of Afghanistan, activities on the insuring of state borders, as well as the current problems.

As part of the visit, the delegation also met national security adviser Mohammad Hanif Atmar, Defense Minister Bismillah Khan Mohammadi, Minister of the Interior Mohammad Omar Daudzai, First Deputy Minister of Interior Mohammad Ayub Salangi, minister of Commerce and Industries Muhammad Shaker Kargar.

Military cooperation between Azerbaijan and Afghanistan is built on friendly terms, and bilateral relations are constantly developing to both sides' benefit.

Azerbaijan is among the eight partner countries that have confirmed their presence in Afghanistan after 2014.
