Armenian troops breach ceasefire with Azerbaijan
Armenian armed forces have broken ceasefire with Azerbaijan 22 times in numerous positions in the last 24 hours, Azerbaijani Defense Ministry reported on November 6.
Armenian armed forces, located in the village of Chinari of Armenia's Berd district, opened fire at the positions of Azerbaijani armed forces located in the village of Kokhanebi of Tovuz district.
Azerbaijani positions also took fire from the positions located near the villages of Garagashli, Yusifjanli of Aghdam, Kuropatkino of Khojavend, Ashagi Seyidahmadli, Gorgan of Fizuli district and Mehdili of Jabrayil district.
At the same time, Azerbaijani positions underwent fire from the positions located at the nameless heights of Khojavend and Fizuli districts.
The enemy was silenced with return fire.
The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. As a result of the ensuing war, in 1992 Armenian armed forces occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding districts.
The two countries signed a ceasefire agreement in 1994. The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, Russia, France and the US are currently holding peace negotiations.
Armenia has not yet implemented four UN Security Council resolutions on the liberation of the Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding regions.
