Musavat leader claims opposition's victory in 2008 poll
The party passed a decision on October 12 to stand in the election and nominate Gambar for president.
Gambar told reporters on Tuesday that the opposition had more potential, saying opposition hopefuls had already been close to sweeping the elections twice - during the presidential polls in 1998 and 2003.
Commenting on the prospect of the opposition nominating several candidates for the elections, which was the case before, Gambar said: "Our goal is to bring together the electorate, not opposition candidates."
