Baku, UN to form working group
Azerbaijan and the United Nations will establish a working group to prepare the document "Framework for cooperation between Azerbaijan and the UN in 2016-2020" to be signed in December 2014.
The main objective is to render joint services to determine potential priorities for future cooperation, UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan Antonius Broek said at a conference, devoted to discussion of the preparation of the document in Baku on June 12.
"After this stage, it will be necessary to create joint groups to form the effective framework until June-August for the Azerbaijani Economy and Industry Ministry to hold a workshop in late September. These results will be discussed there. It is necessary to approve and sign another document as part of cooperation until December."
Azerbaijani Economy and Industry Minister Shahin Mustafayev, in turn, said that Azerbaijan intends to continue cooperating closely with the UN in all possible directions.
"The current level of development and achievements of Azerbaijan make it necessary to cooperate with the relevant UN agencies in the future," the minister said. "Therefore it would be appropriate to call this document as a strategy of cooperation, rather than framework."
