The members of Azerbaijan's Parliament have rendered around $38,000 worth financial aid to the families of those killed in a mine disaster in the Turkish town of Soma.

Chairman of Azerbaijan's Red Crescent Society, MP Novruzali Aslanov made the remark at a plenary meeting of the Azerbaijani parliament on May 30.

Aslanov pointed out that the action started by the Red Crescent Society of Azerbaijan will last until June 20. Called "Let's be Merciful!", the campaign is aimed at raising money for the families of the disaster.

To date, about 40 MPs have taken part in this action.

Aslanov further added that the funds gathered by the country's MPs have already been transferred to the account of Turkey's Red Crescent Society.

The mine accident in the Soma city of Turkey's Manisa province left 301 people dead and 486 more injured.
