Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov and his Turkmen
counterpart Rashid Meredov discussed the issues related to
determining the legal status of the Caspian Sea, in Baku on May 26,
a diplomatic source told Trend.
During the meeting, the two sides also touched upon the bilateral
and regional cooperation issues.
The meeting was held within the framework of a trilateral meeting between the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan and Turkey.
The framework also includes other bilateral meetings, a closed trilateral meeting and an expanded trilateral discussion. Afterwards, the ministers will hold a joint press conference.
During the trilateral meeting in Baku, the foreign ministers of the three countries are expected to discuss the situation in the region, the status of the Caspian Sea, as well as the issues related to the development of cooperation.
Turkey's Foreign Minister Davutoglu said during the 20th OSCE Ministerial Council in late 2013 that the three countries have decided to create a trilateral Turkey-Azerbaijan-Turkmenistan meeting format for discussion.
