Bishkek hosts meeting of TURKPA Commission

The third meeting of the TURKPA Commission on Social, Cultural and Humanitarian Affairs was held in Bishkek, AzerTag state news agency reported.

The event was attended by TURKPA Secretary General Jandos Asanov, members of Kyrgyz Parliament, deputy chairs of the Commission Urmat Amanbaeva and Tusunbay Bakir uulu, Deputy Secretary General of TURKSOY Firat Purtas, Vice President of the Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB) Mustafa Baskurt and representative of the Turkic Academy in Astana Shakir Ibraev.

Azerbaijan was represented at the event with ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Hidayat Orujov, member of the Commission, Azerbaijani MP Nizami Jafarov and MP Sadagat Valiyeva.

Speaking to the event, Jafarov proposed founding the Turkic languages and writing day with the aim of strengthening unity among Turkic-speaking states.

The 4th meeting of the Commission will be held in Baku in the second half of 2014.

TurkPA is the parliamentary union of Turkic-speaking countries whose purpose is to form the mechanism of inter-parliamentary relations among the Turkic countries, promote the convergence of political views, exchange of information, Turkic culture, expansion of economic ties, and implementation of joint projects, and seek solutions to the problems facing the Turkic world.
