Azerbaijani, Turkish military officials mull ties

Azerbaijani and Turkish officials discussed prospects for developing cooperation between Azerbaijan and Turkey in strengthening border security.
Commander of State Border Service, Lieutenant General Elchin Guliyev received visiting Chief of the Turkish General Staff, Army General Necdet Ozel on April 3.
Guliyev spoke of the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. He said that 132 km long Azerbaijani-Iranian border, which had been occupied as a result of Armenia`s aggression against Azerbaijan, was used for smuggling and other illegal purposes.
Prior to the meeting, Ozel has been awarded the medal "For merits in military cooperation" of the Republic of Azerbaijan by a decree of Commander of State Border Service Guliyev.
Turkish Ambassador to Azerbaijan Ismail Alper Coskun was also present at the meeting.
Earlier, the delegation led by Ozel was received by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Azerbaijan`s Prime Minister Artur Rasizade and Azerbaijani Defense Minister Zakir Hasanov.
