Azerbaijani-Czech ties mulled

Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov received the newly appointed ambassador of Czech Republic, Vitezslav Pivonka on March 5, the ministry reported.

Mammadyarov congratulated the ambassador on his new assignment and wished him success in his activities.

During the meeting, the sides expressed satisfaction with the current status of relations between Azerbaijan and Czech Republic and emphasized the importance of promoting cooperation in the areas of economy and tourism.

In this regard, the important role of parliamentary cooperation in development of relations between two countries was highlighted.

Ambassador Pivonka said he would do all his best to contribute to further development of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Czech Republic, and then presented a copy of his credentials to Minister Mammadyarov.

Diplomatic relations between two countries were established in 1993. Azerbaijan's embassy in the Czech Republic was opened on August 15, 2007.

Azerbaijan and the Czech Republic are interested in the promotion of high-level political dialogue and expansion of cooperation between their legislative and executive bodies. The two countries also cooperate within the framework of international organizations, such as the U.N., OSCE, NATO, etc.
