Armenian troops violate ceasefire over 20 times

The Armenian Armed Forces violated the ceasefire on the contact line of Azerbaijani and Armenian armies from different positions 24 times last night, the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry reported.

The Armenian Armed Forces fired on the positions of Azerbaijani Armed Forces located in the village of Alibeyli and at the nameless heights from the positions located in the village of Aygepar of Armenia's Berd region on Feb.26. At the same time, the Azerbaijani positions located at the nameless heights of Gadabay region were fired from the positions located at the nameless heights in Armenia's Krasnosel'skiy region.

Moreover, the Azerbaijani positions were fired from the positions located near the villages of Horadiz, Garakhanbeyli, Seyidahmadli, Ashagi Veyselli of Fizuli region, Yusifjanli of Aghdam, Kuropatkino of Khojavend, Mehdili of Jabrayil and at the nameless heights in the territory of Goranboy region.

The shooting was countered by return fire.

Armenia occupied over 20 percent of Azerbaijan's internationally recognized territories, including Nagorno-Karabakh and seven adjacent regions, after laying territorial claims against its South Caucasus neighbor that caused a brutal war in the early 1990s. Long-standing efforts by the US, Russian, and French mediators have been largely fruitless so far.

As a result of Armenia's military aggression, over 20,000 Azerbaijanis were killed, 4,866 were reported missing, almost 100,000 were injured, and 50,000 were disabled.

The UN Security Council has passed four resolutions on Armenian withdrawal from the Azerbaijani territory, but they have not been enforced to this day.
