Georgian consulate general opens in Ganja

The official opening of Georgia's Consulate General in the Azerbaijani city of Ganja was held on February 19.

Foreign ministers of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey-- Elmar Mammadyarov, Maia Panjikidze and Ahmet Davutoglu--have attended the opening ceremony.

Addressing the event, Georgian Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Teimuraz Sharashenidze said the opening of the consulate general is another proof of friendship between the two countries.

"The Consulate General gives the opportunity to forge trade and economic ties, as well as relations between our people more accessible," he said.

Ganja also hosted the third meeting of the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey today.

Ganja is the second largest city in Azerbaijan and located in the west of the country, 345 kilometres from Baku.
